The administrative director of the Olympic team, Jabbar Hashem, confirmed today, Thursday, that the team performed well against its Egyptian counterpart in the match that took place as part of the two teams’ preparations for the football competitions at the Paris Olympics, and we hope for greater stability in the coming period.
Hashem said in media statements to the office of the Iraqi Media Network in Paris and the (INA): “Our national team performed well physically despite losing the match against its Egyptian counterpart by two goals to one,” noting that “the coaching staff came out with many positive cases and tactical aspects.”
He added, “The Egyptian team is a very strong team, and in this match the coach had a clear picture of the team’s performance, individually and collectively.”
He pointed out that “this match is the first and last in the training camp, and we were hoping to hold a second match had it not been for the commitment of a number of players with their clubs, hoping that the Lions of Mesopotamia would enter the competition with greater stability, especially after the arrival of professional Hussein Ali.”
For his part, the technical analyst of the Olympic team, Abdul Amir Naji, explained that “the match against the Egyptian Olympic team was difficult, as the latter is more stable after playing two friendly matches, while this was the first experience for our team in its training camp.”
He continued, “There is a difference in the physical and skill aspects between our players and the Egyptian national team players, so we saw in the match that possession was in favour of the brotherly team by a percentage of up to 60%.”
