Spain’s Rafael Nadal beat Sweden’s Leo Borg last Tuesday, 6-3, 6-4, returning to the singles tennis tournament, in Bastad, Sweden, after being eliminated at Roland Garros.

One day after returning courtsin pairs, with the Norwegian Casper Ruud, Nadal, 38 years old and 261 in the ranking, secured the passage to the round of 16 through the victory of the son of Bjorn Borg21 years old and currently 461st in the world, in one hour and 26 minutes.

The Spaniard, winner of 22 Grand Slam titles, will face Britain’s Cameron Norrie, 42nd in the hierarchy, in the round of 16, a stage where the Portuguese Henrique Rocha and Nuno Borges have already qualified, who will face each other.

Nadal missed Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam of the year, after dealing with hip and stomach injuries for the past year and a half, but is looking to the best way to face the Paris2024 Olympic competitionto be played on clay at Roland Garros, between July 27 and August 4.
