The subcommittee on constitutional charges of the Peruvian Congress, which examines criminal cases involving senior state officials, considered admissible the complaint against Boluarte, filed last May by the Attorney General of Peru, Juan Carlos Villena.
17 deputies supported the approval resolution, and only two deputies spoke against the acknowledgment of the complaint.
The impeachment procedure will now have to continue before the Standing Committee of Congress before being dealt with in a plenary session.
In the case of a majority vote, the president risks being dismissed.
According to the Attorney General, Dina Boluarte is alleged to have committed an alleged crime of “passive corruption without cause to the detriment of the State” by receiving luxury watches as a gift from the brand “Rolex”, as well as “bracelet and earrings”. ‘golden ears’.
The prosecution also searched Boluarte’s home and office with the aim of gathering possible evidence against him.
The president then made a statement in front of the attorney general’s office in which she denied all of these accusations.
The opposition tried three times, in vain, to pass a motion of impeachment against Boluarte on the basis of these accusations.
