During this meeting, organized by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region (CCIS-TTA), in partnership with the Moroccan Association of Maritime and Port Law and the Moroccan Association of Exporters, the speakers affirmed that this strategic royal initiative aims to allow the Sahel countries to access the Atlantic Ocean, highlighting its positive impact on the various economic, social and cultural aspects of the countries concerned.

Speaking on this occasion, the President of the CCIS-TTA, Abdellatif Afilal, noted that the Atlantic coast of the Kingdom, like the Mediterranean coast, constitutes a gateway to Africa, and a window open to America, through investments in various structuring projects, in particular the Morocco-Nigeria Gas Pipeline project, which aims to bring together the conditions for a joint economic take-off and to initiate a dynamic conducive to the development of the Atlantic strip of Africa.

Mr. Afilal assured that the international initiative of HM the King aimed at facilitating the access of the Sahel countries to the Atlantic Ocean is part of the continuity of the efforts deployed by the Kingdom for a prosperous Africa, noting that it is an initiative that offers unprecedented prospects, capable of strengthening regional integration and cooperation, as well as the structural transformation of the economies of the Sahel.

For his part, the Ambassador of the Republic of Niger to Morocco, Salissou Ada, stressed the importance of the royal initiative in strengthening cooperation between the Kingdom and the countries of the Sahel and sub-Saharan Africa, due to the economic and development opportunities it will offer, reiterating his country’s commitment to adhering to this initiative, being convinced of the need to promote economic integration in Africa in general, and in the countries concerned in particular.

For his part, the Ambassador of the Republic of Burkina Faso in Rabat, Mamadou Coulibaly, stressed that this royal initiative is the expression of a strategic vision not only for the Kingdom of Morocco, but also for the African continent, since it aims to promote rapprochement between the countries of the region.

He noted that this royal vision will contribute to helping the Sahel countries overcome the difficulties and challenges they face in their economic exchanges, noting that this vision reflects the royal will to ensure economic transformation in favor of these countries and give them hope for economic development.

As for the president of the Moroccan Association of Maritime and Port Law, Abdelkrim Kerrich, he focused on the expected results of the royal initiative, in particular the strengthening of religious and spiritual ties that unite the Kingdom to these African countries, while offering them the opportunity to strengthen their economic growth, through access to the Atlantic Ocean.

He also highlighted the royal interest in taking advantage of the Kingdom’s geographical location between the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts, highlighting, in this regard, the good performance of the Tangier Med port complex, the leading port in the Mediterranean and Africa.
