African Paracycling Championship: Gold medal for Moroccan Haitham El-Amraoui in individual pursuit
Cairo – Moroccan cyclist Haitham El-Amraoui won the gold medal in the individual pursuit on the track (category G1) on Wednesday evening, as part of the African Paracycling Championships, which is being held from June 26 to 29 in Cairo.
His compatriot Mohamed Bouchfar also took the bronze medal in the individual pursuit race in the G2 category.
The track races for this continental competition are scheduled for June 26 and 27, while the road races will take place on June 28 and 29.
Haitham El-Amraoui is the reigning African champion in the road race (G1 category), a title won at the 2023 edition held in Accra, Ghana, while Mohamed Bouchfar holds gold in the time trial (G2 category).
A total of 55 cyclists are taking part in this sporting event hosted by the Egyptian capital, representing six countries, namely Egypt, Morocco, Kenya, Senegal, Mauritius and Nigeria.
