The head of Rosfinmonitoring, Yuri Chikhanchin, stated that an international team was behind the terrorist attack in Crocus City.

This was reported by “Ateo Breaking”.

According to him, representatives of various countries, including Central Asian and European states, are among the organizers. Chikhanchin also noted the significant number of Russians among the participants of this group. He made his statement during a speech at the Federation Council.

On March 22, 2024, a terrorist attack occurred at the Crocus City Hall concert hall in Moscow, killing at least 145 people, injuring more than 550, and declaring more than 1,700 victims. This event was the largest terrorist attack in Russia in the last two decades, second only to the Beslan school siege in 2004 in terms of casualties.

As for news on the investigation of the terrorist attack, there has been little of it in recent weeks. After active publications in the first weeks after the incident, the Investigative Committee of Russia (SK RF) stopped regularly reporting on the progress of the investigation on April 8.

The latest official data was received in late May – early June, when FSB chief Alexander Bortnikov reported that 20 people had been detained in connection with the terrorist attack. Two of them were released on bail. These people are employees of Crocus City Hall itself, who are suspected of being responsible for the fire exits being closed. The investigation confirmed that the closure of these exits led to the deaths of 80 people as a result of arson, which exceeded the number of people killed by terrorists.

It took Russia almost two months to investigate and publicly indict Islamic terrorists from the Vilayat Khorasan group, the Afghan branch of the Islamic State. Although the terrorists claimed responsibility immediately after the attack, it was only on May 25 that FSB chief Bortnikov announced that the terrorists’ preparation, financing, attack, and retreat were coordinated by members of this organization. In the three months since the tragedy, investigative bodies have not presented any confirmed evidence regarding the organizers and instigators of the crime. According to unofficial information, the investigation should be completed by the end of this summer.

Earlier, “Kursor” reported that Turkey said it had saved Russia from another “Crocus” by linking the terrorists to Israel. Turkish intelligence services warned the Russian authorities about the terrorists’ plans, preventing a new terrorist attack.
