The wife of a Cuban in the United States spoke about the worrying situation of her family since her partner could be deported to Cuba while she is pregnant.
Marien Acosta, the wife of this Cuban who has an I-220B document, has been absent since her last appointment with Immigration.
The woman says that the Cuban is awaiting deportation this week and if that happens, her daughter will be left without her father.
“My family is broken, my daughter is suffering. I won’t be able to lie to her when she has to give birth. My little girl won’t have her dad by her side, and now she’s facing deportation this week. This breaks my heart.”
For his part, the family’s lawyer, Eduardo Soto, explained to Telemundo 51 the complicated situation they are in: “Last Friday we went to the appointment and he was arrested. From Miramar, he was transferred to Broward the week before.”
“The life of a family in our community with an I-220B is horrible. They live in fear every day, not knowing if they will be intercepted,” said the lawyer.
Cuban Mario de León Díaz, 26, faces deportation because he failed a credible fear interview when he showed up at the southern border requesting political asylum.
The Cuban’s lawyer said that they filed a parole request for this father who needs to remain in the United States with his pregnant wife.
The situation is made even more worrying by the increasing number of Cubans without criminal records detained during their appointments with Immigration, leaving many families in a position of uncertainty and fear.
