The summer transfer window is underway and the first stars have already found new clubs. You can find rumors and confirmed transfers from the world of football here.
Even after the European Championship, the transfer carousel is in full swing. The biggest move: French star Kylian Mbappé is leaving Paris Saint-Germain and will play for Champions League winners Real Madrid from next season. But it will not be the only top transfer of the summer.
Important for all Bundesliga fans: German clubs can sign new players until August 30, 2024.
Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting could return to Mainz 05. As transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reports, the “Zero Five” have inquired about the currently clubless striker. The 35-year-old’s contract with FC Bayern expired in the summer. Since then, the Cameroon international striker has been waiting for offers.
Choupo-Moting played for Mainz from 2011 to 2014, scoring 22 goals and providing 8 assists in 81 matches before moving to Schalke.
Soumaïla Coulibaly will most likely leave BVB soon. The central defender, who was loaned to Belgian first division club Royal Antwerp last season, is on Real Betis’s list, according to “Relevo”. The Spanish club from Seville wants to loan Coulibaly.
There is also said to be an obligation to buy the 20-year-old. Coulibaly, who came from Paris in 2021, did not make a breakthrough at BVB. He was only able to make one appearance in the Bundesliga.
The Spanish portal “Relevo” reports that Real Madrid is interested in BVB defender Nico Schlotterbeck. Juni Calafat, the “Royals'” chief scout, is said to be closely involved with the German international. At Real, Schlotterbeck could form a German defensive duo with Antonio Rüdiger.
However, it is doubtful whether BVB is prepared to let go of Schlotterbeck. The new Dortmund head coach Nuri Şahin is planning to keep the 24-year-old. After the departure of Mats Hummels, BVB only has two other top central defenders besides Schlotterbeck: Niklas Süle and new signing Waldemar Anton.
Borussia Dortmund has prematurely extended the contract with goalkeeper Alexander Meyer. The new contract of the substitute keeper, who is number two between the posts at BVB behind Gregor Kobel, runs until June 30, 2026.
Meyer, in the eyes of the club “the best second goalkeeper in the Bundesliga”, is an outstanding keeper, “an absolute team player and an exemplary professional who gives his all in every training session, is always ready and shows his performance when we need him,” explained Dortmund’s sporting director Kehl.
Last season, Meyer played eight Bundesliga games and one game in the Champions League for BVB.
Second division club 1. FC Nuremberg has signed central defender Robin Knoche. The 32-year-old, who played for Bundesliga club Union Berlin in the Champions League last season, is moving to the Franconians under coach Miroslav Klose on a free transfer.
“We are very proud and at the same time happy that Robin has chosen Nuremberg despite other offers from the Bundesliga,” said Joti Chatzialexiou, FCN’s sporting director: “His footballing skills are undisputed, he has experience in the Bundesliga as well as in international competitions.”
