Tiruppur: The new city council of Tiruppur has a lot of potential to function creatively. The council is compelled to act in the absence of the ruling party, the DMK, by a simple majority, and with the cooperation of the DMK, the allies and the alternative councilors, the AIADMK and the BJP.
Unlike other corporations, the Tirupur municipal election result was slightly different. The DMK was unable to gain a simple majority. This is because the DMK contested in only 32 of the 60 wards in total.
Of these, only 23 wards were won by the DMK. .UML, – M.M.K., – have won one ward each. The DMK, if it wants to get a simple majority, must win in 31 wards. At present, the reality is that the resolutions in the corporation can only be passed if the coalition is compliant. . In the corporation, the DMK is a strong opposition party.
But the coalition will also have to relinquish some of its positions. Everyday people suffer from innumerable problems such as basic infrastructure, drinking water, sewerage and street lighting.

The traffic crisis is rampant. Starting with flying bridges, the roads should be upgraded to international standards. ‘Smart City’ projects need to be expedited. Focus on tax collection. As a city that earns billions in foreign exchange for the country, the council administration should pay more attention to getting direct assistance from the central and state governments.
Without foresight, councilors can no longer put a stumbling block to creative work, just for ‘politics’.
For this, the mayor will definitely need the cooperation of all party councilors. Focusing on the administration, including the mayor, will certainly not be a flowering; But, in five years time, the corporation can be crowned – if every councilor, truly works with the common good!
