In light of the new report published this Friday by the journalist Tim Golden On the alleged financing of his electoral campaigns by drug trafficking, the president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador He offered to give the reporter an interview if he first answers the questions he asked him earlier this year.
“Tim Golden just wrote again about a rehash, about the same thing about drug trafficking and he sent a letter to Jesus (Ramirez) and he already answered him,” said the president.

She complained that the journalist gave her spokesman 12 hours to respond to her questions, when he has been there for six months and has not responded to the questions she asked him at the beginning of the year after publishing for the first time the alleged payments from criminals to López Obrador’s campaign.
On July 17, Ramírez said, Tim Golden sent him a letter informing him that he was detailing the DEA’s investigation into President López Obrador’s 2006 election campaign.
“The new report is based on previously unpublished U.S. government documents that reveal in more detail the evidence that investigators have accumulated and the limits of that evidence.
“Among other things, the documents indicate that in a first phase, DEA agents identified candidate López Obrador himself as a possible target of their investigation, despite the possible impact on the bilateral relationship that any attempt to bring charges in the United States against an important Mexican political candidate would have,” the spokesperson read.
He added that according to the letter sent by the reporter, it establishes that the documents and interviews reiterate what was stated in January, and that is that the foreign agents never found first-hand evidence that the now president approved or knew about the money that, according to other sources of the investigation, the Sinaloa cartel contributed to his electoral campaign.
“What I suggested to Jesus is that Tim Golden should ask us what he has not answered. If he answers, I will give him an interview later, but what I want him to answer is the questions we asked here.
“Since he appeared again, because it took six months, he already gave us 12 hours and it took him six months to respond,” said López Obrador.
In his response to the journalist, Ramírez also raised a series of other questions for the reporter, including why he decided to publish it if he confirmed that there is no evidence with López Obrador.
“If your report does not contain hard data or direct testimony that implicates him, what is the journalistic value or intention of publishing it?” the spokesman asked Golden in his response.

He also asked the journalist why he had not responded to the questions posed by the president and why he had sent them back to him.
The president returned to the subject and again accused the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) of revenge.
He even said that the arrest of the former Secretary of National Defense in the last six-year term, Salvador Cienfuegos, was in revenge because said agency could not subdue the Army to cooperate with them, as the Navy did.
