Particular attention is being paid to the opening ceremony, which will take place on the Seine River with delegations on boats, creating additional risks. Shin Bet special forces rehearsed routine and emergency events in conditions as close to reality as possible, using advanced technology to simulate objects and scenarios.
The sailing village in Marseille and the football team that will be travelling around the country also require special attention. The complex security operation involves the use of cyber systems, intelligent detection systems and defence systems. In close cooperation with the French security forces, the Shin Bet is working to ensure maximum protection for the delegation.
Israeli Culture and Sports Minister Miki Zohar is actively involved in the preparations, allocating the necessary funds and maintaining constant contact with the Shin Bet leadership and the French authorities. Given the high risks, Israeli athletes are required to remain in the Olympic Village for no more than 48 hours after the competition and immediately return to their homeland.
