The Summer Olympics open in Paris in a few days, and local authorities have stepped up efforts to combat “undesirable elements.”

The Bild publication writes about this.

The French capital is being cleared of homeless people, drug addicts and illegal migrants, their tent cities are being destroyed and they are being moved to remote regions such as Brittany or Bordeaux.

According to the human rights group Le Revers de la Médaille, the “social cleansing” of Paris began in 2023. Since then, 12,545 homeless people have been removed from the city. The authorities are also closing homeless reception centers, food distribution points and shelters.

The publication calls it “the shame of the Olympics” because people are not being offered alternative housing and their belongings are being destroyed by bulldozers.

French security forces are acting covertly, trying to avoid the attention of the world community, the publication notes.

Let us recall that the Olympics will be held from July 26 to August 11. It was recently announced that 15 athletes from the Russian Federation and 16 from Belarus will take part in the Summer Olympics in France. The question of the participation of these athletes was the subject of lengthy debate. At the end of 2023, the IOC decided to allow them to participate only in individual disciplines, without the use of national flags and other symbols. However, many were unhappy with this decision, believing that representatives of a terrorist country have no place at the world sports festival.

Earlier, “Cursor” reported that The Shin Bet, together with French security services, will provide intensive protection to Israeli athletes during the Olympic Games.
