In the last few hours, the Attorney General’s Office rejected the violent act perpetrated in the town of El Sinaí, El Encanto village, in Argelia (Cauca), with an explosive device that hit and damaged the structure of the community home “Los Pitufos”, of the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF).

The Public Prosecutor’s Office stated that, although no minors were injured, it is a serious incident that shows the threat of violation of the integrity to which children and adolescents are permanently exposed.

He stated that the violence that has been deployed and increased in the department of Cauca violates and threatens the integrity of innocent minors, who deserve the guarantee of comprehensive protection and respect for their dignity, freedom, mobility, education, and healthy environment; who become direct and indirect victims in the context of the armed conflict that is taking place in various territories of the country.

Finally, the oversight body reiterated its call to national and territorial law enforcement authorities to take extreme security measures to prevent further attacks against those who should not, under any circumstances, bear the consequences of the armed conflict.
