Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a briefing with the country’s security chiefs following the overnight drone strike in central Tel Aviv.

As reported by Day.Az with reference to TASS, the office of the head of government reported this.

“Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was informed about the drone incident in Tel Aviv in real time during the night. The prime minister has now held a telephone meeting to assess the security situation with the participation of the heads of the security services,” the statement said.

An explosion occurred in the center of Tel Aviv at around 03:00 Moscow time. According to the army, one person was killed and eight were injured. The incident occurred 150 meters from the US consulate building. The army press service stated that the cause was “the fall of an air target”, and that the alarms did not go off. An investigation is underway into the incident.

The Yemeni rebel movement Ansar Allah (Houthis) claimed responsibility for the incident. According to the rebels, a new model of UAV capable of bypassing air defense systems was used in the attack.
