The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) decided to suspend the export of poultry meat and its products to 44 countries after an outbreak of Newcastle disease (DNC) was confirmed in the city of Anta Gorda, in Rio Grande do Sul.

The last confirmed cases occurred in Brazil in 2006 and in farmed birds, in the states of Amazonas, Mato Grosso and Rio Grande do Sul.

The suspensions apply to the area or region where there is a certification barrier, ranging from a suspension for at least 21 days for the entire national territory or even a restriction to a radius of 50 km from the identified outbreak.

For countries like China, Argentina, Peru e Mexico the suspension applies to all of Brazil, for now.

From the state of Rio Grande do Sul, exports to South Africa, Albania, Saudi Arabia, Bolivia, Kazakhstan, Chile, Cuba, Egypt, Philippines, Georgia, Hong Kong, India, Jordan , Kosovo, Macedonia, Myanmar, Montenegro, Paraguay, French Polynesia, United Kingdom, Dominican Republic, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Taiwan, Ukraine, European Union, Eurasian Economic Union, Uruguay, Vanuatu and Vietnam.

Poultry meat cannot be exported from a radius of 50 km from the outbreak; poultry, feathers and fish for use in animal feed; and cooked, thermally processed, inedible meat products derived from poultry, for countries such as Canada, South Korea, Israel, Japan, Morocco, Mauritius, Namibia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, East Timor.

Heat-treated products such as thermo-processed, cooked and processed products destined for Argentina, South Africa, Chile, the European Union and Uruguay there are no limits and can usually be confirmed.
