Hundreds of employees working in the water management department of the Punjab Agriculture Department were suddenly dismissed from their jobs, after giving the illusion of a one-year extension, their salaries were stopped from July 1. The employees have been working on water saving projects in the province for 20 years. were working, the employees announced a sit-in in front of the Chief Minister’s House from July 22 after being suddenly fired from their jobs.

It should be noted that the above mentioned employees were recruited under the project “National Plan for Improvement of Drains” i.e. NPIW under the supervision of the Water Management Department of the Department of Agriculture in the year 2005. Eight Engineers and Class IV employees were included, after the successful completion of NPIW in 2012 during the tenure of former Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in the light of World Bank recommendations and written appreciation, these employees were given new projects without interruption in their jobs. Shifted to “Punjab Irrigated Agriculture Extension Project” i.e. PIPIP, this project also ran successfully for 9 years and under it, thousands of ditches were repaired and modern irrigation systems i.e. drip and sprinkler systems were installed across Punjab. Installation done.

Later these employees were shifted to “National Project for Improvement of Waterways Phase Two” i.e. NPIW-2 with the special approval of the Punjab Cabinet. was agreed at the government level, a formal notification was also issued in this regard, but suddenly, a few days before June 30, it was announced to close the project and with it, the salaries of more than 700 employees of Punjab on July 1. were closed.

It is worth mentioning here that new water saving projects are also being brought by the department at the provincial level. Instead of benefiting, they are being fired from their jobs, while talking to the media, Nadeem Razak Khohara, Zahid Aftab Mangat, Naveed Ahsan, Wahid Bakhsh Qureshi, Muhammad Mohsin, Asadullah, Malik Akram and Fayaz Ahmed and other representatives said that now We are overworked and can’t even apply in any other department. Punjab government has spent billions of rupees on their training, so they should be reinstated and regularized by taking advantage of their experience. .

The employees appealed to Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz to restore them back to their jobs as soon as possible so that they can continue working on water saving projects and run their homes and the homes of thousands of families in Punjab. The stove should also be kept burning, otherwise the employees across Punjab will sit in front of the Chief Minister’s House until their demands are met.
