Laayoune: Debate on strengthening the legal empowerment of people with disabilities
Laayoune – Strengthening the legal empowerment of people with disabilities was the focus of a study day organized on Saturday in Laayoune, at the initiative of the association supporting people with disabilities.
Initiated in coordination with the Southern Alliance for the Promotion of the Rights of People with Disabilities, the Spanish association “Amigos de villa cisneros” and the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH), on the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of the creation of the association supporting people with disabilities, this meeting aims to consolidate the legal empowerment of this category in the wake of the reform of the Family Code.
On this occasion, the president of the association supporting people with disabilities, Fatima Al-Mousaidi, stressed that this meeting is intended to be an opportunity to discuss legal, judicial and procedural issues related to people with disabilities, in accordance with the provisions of the international convention relating to this category, which Morocco has ratified.
This meeting is also intended to be a plea for the promotion of the rights of people with disabilities from a legal point of view, especially since it constitutes an opportunity to review the difficulties faced by this category, with a view to placing it at the heart of societal and family concerns, she continued.
For his part, the Secretary General of the Southern Alliance for the Promotion of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Ali Trffasse indicated that this meeting was an opportunity to examine the judicial, legal and social issues of persons with disabilities.
