To alert students in Amazonas about the dangers of the internet, state representative Débora Menezes (PL) is the author of Law No. 6.698/2024, which establishes Digital Security Week in the Schools of the State.
The proposal calls for educational units to develop actions to awaken in students the need to adopt precautions with electronic devices and computer programs.
The author argued that the Law, which came into effect this year, aims to empower students about digital security, as well as to create and develop activities focusing on the impact of technology on daily activities and, mainly, on the risks present in digital environments, such as virtual sexual abuse and cyberbullying.
“The proposal aims to alert elementary and high school students about the dangers of overexposure, which can lead them to numerous risks, including virtual sexual abuse and cyberbullying, as well as harm to physical and mental health,” warned Débora Menezes.
The parliamentarian highlighted that society is currently connected and that practically all daily activities are, for the most part, mediated by the use of technology. She emphasized that, regarding children and adolescents, this is even more pronounced when study, leisure, and interpersonal relationship activities are conducted digitally.
“In this scenario, it is essential that schools pay attention to the issue of safety in the use of technologies, especially concerning computer networks, where the main environments occupied by children and adolescents are social networks,” emphasized Débora, reinforcing the importance of the Law.
