The defender made his debut for his new club in the first qualifying round of the Champions League against the Bosnia and Herzegovina club Borac (0:1, 2:2). He assessed his debut as follows:
“Unfortunately, we did not advance to the next stage. In the return match, which we played at home, we had enough chances to score the winning goal, but we were unable to do so. We will gather ourselves and prepare for the upcoming games. The fact that my first official match was in the qualifying round of the Champions League gave me additional motivation and good emotions. My goals are big. Such games are my first steps towards my goal and a great experience for me.”
Aliyev also spoke about the atmosphere in the team and the fans’ attitude towards him:
“The fans of Egnatia treat me very well. They never refuse to support me. I have completely gotten used to the team. We have a friendly team. Everyone supports each other. I feel comfortable here.”
