In this context, the Wali of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, governor of the Tangier-Assilah prefecture, Younes Tazi, stressed the need for all stakeholders in market supply and price control to ensure compliance with the legal and regulatory provisions governing the supply of the local market and the implementation of legal measures against offenders, and to combat anti-competitive practices.
The Wali stressed the need to work proactively to ensure the availability of food in sufficient quantities and at reasonable prices in all markets and points of sale, noting the importance of raising awareness among traders, professionals and suppliers of the need to demonstrate a high sense of citizenship and work for the general interest, to ensure a regular supply of markets, in preparation for the holy month of Ramadan.
After stressing that control operations are carried out periodically throughout the year, Mr. Tazi urged all stakeholders in the provincial joint commission and local price control commissions to intensify tours of the various markets and points of sale to protect the consumer, by ensuring compliance with the prices of subsidized products and the stability of prices of other products, and by fighting against anti-competitive practices (speculation, monopoly, multiplicity of intermediaries, etc.).
This meeting took place in the presence of the Secretary General of the Tangier-Assilah prefecture, provincial authorities and representatives of the external services and public institutions concerned.
In a statement to the press, the regional director of Agriculture of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, Aziz El Balouti, stressed that this meeting is part of the periodic meetings held by the wali of the region to monitor the state of supply of the markets and to activate the necessary measures in anticipation of the holy month of Ramadan.
He affirmed that the supply situation of the markets in the region is “good” and is characterized by an abundance of foodstuffs, noting that the markets will be marked by sufficient and regular supply in the coming weeks.
