On the occasion of this ceremony, chaired by the Chancellor of the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco, Mohamed Kettani, Ms. Boni and Mr. Moyo said they were honored to join this high place of exchange and dialogue, emphasizing the key role of the Academy in promoting the values of living together and social cohesion.
In a statement to MAP, Ms. Boni said she was “happy to be among the associate members of this prestigious institution, where luminaries come together to think about Morocco, Africa, the world and values.”
This Ivorian philosopher and writer stressed, in this regard, that the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco serves as an ideal framework for exchange and reflection on questions of culture and philosophy, as well as on the history, present and future of the African continent.
Founder of the Mandela Institute for Development Studies (MINDS), Mr. Moyo expressed his pride in joining the Academy of the Kingdom as a space for sharing knowledge and experiences between researchers and intellectuals, noting that it is important to make the most of the missions of this institution, that of “exploring the world to understand it and, thus, contributing to the resolution of current economic, social and cultural challenges on the African continent.”
In this context, he noted that the key challenge facing the continent is to unite economically and work together to take advantage of the inestimable potential in natural and human resources that Africa abounds with.
The investiture ceremony, which took place in the presence of the permanent secretary of the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco, Abdeljalil Lahjomri, was marked by two investiture lessons presented by the new members, on “Links and borders: for a philosophy of living together” and on “Key lessons for Africa from current geopolitical developments”.
This investiture takes place in accordance with article 11 of Dahir n° 1-21-02 of 22 Joumada II 1442 corresponding to February 5, 2021, promulgating law n°74-19 relating to the reorganization of the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco.
