Jeong Ho-yeon and Oberdan selected as replacements… Final 22 confirmed
Team K League vs Tottenham Hotspur, clash on the 31st
The Korea Professional Football Federation, which oversees the professional football K-League, announced the final list of K-League teams, including the ‘Pick Ten’, that will face Tottenham Hotspur in the first match of the ‘2024 Coupang Play Series’ on the 23rd.
Team K League is composed of a total of 22 players, including one ‘Couple Young-ple’ player aged 22 or younger selected by fan voting, 11 ‘Fan Eleven’ players, and 10 ‘Pick Ten’ players selected by the coaching staff.
The federation previously announced the ‘Fan Eleven’ that received the most votes for each position, including Yang Min-hyeok (Gangwon), who was selected as ‘Couple Young-ple’, Lee Seung-woo (Suwon FC), Jo Hyeon-woo (Ulsan), and Hwang Jae-won (Daegu).
Ki Sung-yong and Lingard (both from Seoul), who were included in the final list of ‘Fan Eleven’, are unable to be called up to the K-League team due to injuries.
As a result, Jung Ho-yeon, who came in 4th place in the Fan Eleven Midfielder voting, and Oberdan, who came in 5th place, were selected as replacements.
After ‘Couple Young-Pul’ and ‘Fan Eleven’ were selected, Coach Park Tae-ha (Pohang) and Coach Kim Eun-joong (Suwon FC), who lead Team K-League, selected the ‘Pick Ten’.
The ‘Pick Ten’ is composed of a variety of domestic and foreign players who are currently showing outstanding skills in each position in the K League, and has been designed with consideration to detailed positions and distribution by team.
The attackers are Andersson (Suwon FC), Iljutcenko (Seoul), Yoon Do-young (Daejeon), and Jung Jae-hee (Pohang). Iljutcenko and Andersson are ranked first in most goals and most assists in K League 1, respectively, while Yoon Do-young and Jung Jae-hee are active as key attacking resources for their teams.
Midfielder Italo (Jeju), who has been demonstrating outstanding skills this season, was selected.
The defenders include Kang Tu-ji (Gangwon), Park Seung-wook (Gimcheon), Yonichi (Incheon), and Lee Myung-jae (Ulsan). Park Seung-wook and Yonichi were candidates for the ‘Fan Eleven’ selection, but unfortunately were eliminated in the final results, and were ultimately selected by Coach Park to join Team K-League.
The goalkeeper selected was Hwang In-jae (Pohang), who attracted attention by being selected for the national team for the first time this year. Hwang In-jae has played every minute of every game this season and is playing a leading role in Pohang’s rise to the top of K League 1.
The match between Team K League and Tottenham will be held at Seoul World Cup Stadium at 8 PM on the 31st.
