The Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Libya, Georgette Gagnon, chaired the “Annual Steering Committee Meeting of the United Nations Sustainable Development Plan with the Minister of Planning, UN agencies, ministries and government institutions.”

“We reflected on our joint work and the results of the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Plan, and drew valuable lessons and recommendations for action in 2024-2025,” Gagnon said.

“Our shared commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Libya remains steadfast. Government financing for sustainable development, including through the Cooperation Framework, is critical. We continue to mobilize resources to advance the SDGs for the benefit of all people in Libya,” she added.

“Together, we need to accelerate our efforts to implement the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. Youth empowerment and climate change will be key themes in 2024-2025. We are committed to empowering youth across Libya and addressing the challenges of climate change, to ensure a sustainable future for all,” said Gagnon.
