“In order to secure the demonstration, we involved 1,231 joint personnel in the Horse Statue Area to the State Palace Area,” said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Susatyo Purnomo Condro, Monday (22/7).

The joint personnel came from Polda Metro Jaya, Polres Metro Jakarta Pusat, TNI, Pemda DKI and related agencies. The personnel were placed in several locations of the action.

Susatyo said that traffic engineering is situational and depends on conditions in the field. If escalation increases at the Horse Statue, then traffic diversion will be implemented.

“We urge people who will pass through Jalan Merdeka Barat to look for alternative routes because there will be an action to convey opinions at the Horse Statue,” said Susatyo.

In addition, Susatyo reminded all personnel involved in security to always act persuasively, not to provoke or be provoked, to prioritize negotiation, humanistic service and to maintain security and safety.

None of the personnel carried weapons and continued to respect the demonstrators who expressed their opinions.

Susatyo also appealed to the field coordinators (korlap) and orators to give speeches politely, not to provoke the masses, to remain peaceful, not to impose their will, not to be anarchistic and not to damage public facilities.

In addition, continue to respect and appreciate other road users who will pass through the Monas Horse Statue roundabout and several other locations.
