Benghazi Municipality stated that “the United Libya Iron and Steel Company (SULB) signed an agreement with the Turkish company “Tosyali” for the production of “green steel” to build an iron and steel factory in the city with a total capacity of 8.1 million tons.”
The municipality added, “Under the agreement, the two companies established a completely new company called ‘Tosyali Solb’, headquartered in Benghazi.”
Benghazi Municipality indicated that “the new company is undertaking the establishment of the project, which includes a series of investments that contribute significantly to developing industry in Libya, especially developing the iron and steel sector and providing job opportunities.”
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the United Libya Iron and Steel Company, Ahmed Jadallah, said: “The agreement is a decisive step towards industrialization in Benghazi and developing the steel industry through partnership with Tosyali Company.”
“I expect this investment to contribute to strengthening economic relations between Libya and Turkey and to transform Benghazi into a major player in global steel production,” he added.
