Luxury electric or hybrid cars are gaining ground in the Ecuadorian market; but classic combustion cars are also sold. Among the best-selling ones, prices can range from around $50,000 to more than $135,000.
The market of the luxury cars in Ecuador remains in good health, despite the crisis. Recently, the opening of a new dealership for vehicles was announced. Maserati, Lamborghini, McLaren and Dallara in Samborodon.
Sales of such vehicles have averaged 1% of total sales since 2018, that is, over the past seven years.

1.- Audi E-Tron: This electric and hybrid model Audi sold 43 units in 2023, with a range of up to 450 kilometers. Its price starts at $114,490.
2.- BMW X5: El BMW X5 with panoramic roof was sold 44 times in Ecuador during the same period. Its new price is $135,990
3.- Audi A4: The elegant sedan Audi A4 recorded 46 sales, at a cost of $49,990.
4.- Audi Q7: This German SUV sold 47 units in Ecuador. Its base price is $114,990.
5.- Audi Q3: 54 were sold Audi Q3 in the last year, with a price of $ 49,900
6.- Mercedes Benz Clase GLE: This luxury SUV, with parking assistance and 360-degree rear camera. 63 units were sold, with a minimum price of $ 134,990

Brands such as Maserati have positioned themselves as one of the best-selling brands in the country. In 2022, they reached a record of 42 units sold. This placed Ecuador in third place in Latin America, surpassing nations such as Peru, Colombia, Brazil and Argentina.
How many people in the country earn enough to buy a luxury vehicle?
The question that arises next is whether this level of sales of a high-end item corresponds to the income and socioeconomic reality of Ecuador.
To answer that you must refer to how the purchasing power of the Ecuadorians. Around 90% earn up to $750 per month individually; this can add up to $1,500 in income each month.
Then there is a population that earns between $751 and $1,500, totaling around 967,435 people. Finally, there are a little over 246,000 Ecuadorians who earn more than $1,500 per month.
