State Minister for Expatriate Welfare Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury said that the UAE government has not officially announced anything about stopping the visas of Bangladeshis.

He said that by protesting in Dubai, expatriates are defying the law and ruining the image of Bangladesh abroad.

On Wednesday (July 24), he said these things in response to reporters’ questions when asked about the recent ban on Dubai visas at the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment.

He said that the same way they have destroyed various government institutions including Metrorail in the country, they have also done the same abroad to destroy the labor market of Bangladesh. I think the ghosts of 71 war criminals Jamaat BNP were punished for their actions. Similarly, by protesting in Dubai, they have ruined the image of Bangladesh abroad. For this they have been punished for different periods. We will not interfere with convicted expatriates. It is their state affairs.

Regarding visa ban in UAE, he said, we have not received any written order. We have contacted the UAE Embassy and they also do not know anything. I also spoke to the UAE ambassador in Bangladesh, he also did not say anything. We do not have any accurate information about whether the labor market is closed or not. If we know, we will inform the media. I request everyone to report the news with correct information. It will benefit the country. People’s confusion will also decrease.

Is the ban on visas in the United Arab Emirates baseless? In response to the journalist’s question, the state minister said that we have not received any news, no letter.
