Bulgaria’s No. 1 athlete, Alexander Vezenkov, returned to the Greek club “Olympiakos” after 1 year in the strongest basketball championship in the world – the NBA. In it, the national team plays for the “Sacramento Kings”, and this summer he moved to the “Toronto Raptors”.

The 28-year-old Vezenkov signed for 5 seasons with the team from Piraeus, and the deal is for the Euroleague record 18.5 million euros.

During his previous stay at Olympiakos – between 2018 and 2023, the Bulgarian won the title and the Greek Cup twice, the Super Cup once and became the MVP of the championship twice.

He was also named MVP of the Euroleague last year, when Olympiakos lost the final.

And due to injuries, Vezenkov was unable to establish himself in “Sacramento” and apparently decided that it was better for him to be in Europe. For this purpose, he gave up a contractually guaranteed $6.6 million for his second season in the NBA.
