Forgiveness of late payments and interest for Empagua users in Guatemala City
The Municipality of Guatemala has announced, through Agreement COM-19-2024, the forgiveness of late payments and interest on late payments for users of Guatemala City who are in arrears in the payment of drinking water and sewage services provided by the Municipal Water Company of Guatemala City —EMPAGUA—This measure seeks to support Guatemalans in regularizing their payments, thus guaranteeing continued access to these essential services.
Benefit term, who is eligible and how to take advantage of it
The benefit applies to all private users in Guatemala City who are in arrears and who pay their outstanding balance in a single payment or who establish a payment agreement during the term of the agreement, which is 30 business days, from July 20 to August 30, 2024. It is important to note that if a user establishes a payment agreement but does not comply with the agreed terms, the forgiveness benefit will be void.
To take advantage of this opportunity, users can go to any of EMPAGUA’s customer service centres or call 1551 to manage their situation.
Location of the citizen service centers
The customer service centers are located in different parts of Guatemala City, with flexible hours to serve users:
- Municipal Palace in zone 1: Monday to Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Atanasio Tzul Plaza Shopping Center, local 136, zone 12: Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Plaza España, 7th Avenue 12-39, zone 9, Etisa Building: Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Galerías del Sur shopping center, premises 34-90, zone 11: Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Primma Galleries, zone 7: Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Los Alamos Shopping Center, zone 18: Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Mini Muni Zone 21, at 04 Avenue and 06 Street, Zone 21: Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
