Guatemala City Council authorized the issuance of Electronic Solvency for Transportation and Transit

On Wednesday, July 24, the Municipality of Guatemala authorized the issuance of the Electronic Solvency of Transport and Transita document that will allow vehicle owners to check the Absence of outstanding fines within the municipalityThis measure, managed by the Metropolitan Regulatory Entity for Transportation and Transit of the Municipality of Guatemala —EMETRA—, seeks to modernize and streamline the procedures related to this document that already existed, but whose request could only be made in person.

It should be noted that solvency is not mandatory, it is usually used by Guatemalans for personal procedures, for example, during the sale or purchase of a vehicle, to verify that it has no violations.

EMETRA will be responsible for issuing this document, as well as managing the collection and collection of the fee set for its issuance. In addition, it will be in charge of implementing control and oversight mechanisms, as well as developing technological means to facilitate its issuance. The Electronic Solvency of Transport and Transit was authorized by the Municipal Council of Guatemala City through Agreement COM-21-2024 and will come into effect on Thursday, July 25, 2024, one day after its publication in the Official Gazette.

What is the cost of the document?

The price of issuing the Electronic Transport and Transit Solvency is Q 25.00, the same price that it has maintained for the last few years. However, this document will be delivered at no additional cost upon payment of any fine within the first five business days after the imposition of the infraction by the Municipal Traffic Police. In any other case, the indicated fee must be paid.

Payment for the Electronic Solvency can be made through any electronic payment method or directly at the facilities of the Municipality of Guatemala and its Mini Munis. In addition, vehicle owners can print the document through the web portal of the Municipality of Guatemala, facilitating its access and availability.

Validity and limit of consultations

The solvency certificate will be valid for ninety days from the date of issue. During this period, the validity of the document can be verified up to three times using the QR code printed on it. This feature ensures that people can quickly and efficiently verify the solvency of the vehicle in question.
