The Inter d’Escaldes was not an opponent that could look the AEK in the eyes, and this was true for the first hour of the match between the two teams, in the context of the second qualifying round of the Conference League.
AEK won 4-3 against the team from Andorra, although they initially led 4-0 (!), but as long as they stay focused, they cannot be threatened in the return match on August 1st.
The… goal fest at the OPAP Arena started in the 5th minute with Gatsinovic hitting the post, but in the next minute (6th), Lioubišič opened the scoring with AEK’s first goal of the new season.
In the 20th minute, Livai García doubled the score with a rebound, as his initial shot was saved by Muñoz, wrapping up the first half at 3-0 thanks to Gatsinovic’s goal in the 31st minute.
Moukoudi made it 4-0 with a header in the 52nd minute from a corner taken by Eliasen. However, the “quadruple” of goals created complacency, concentration was lost, and the visitors found two goals from nowhere.
In the 65th minute, Vida “dropped” Strakosha with a header, scoring an own goal, in the 75th minute Livai missed a penalty (saved by Muñoz), but in the 77th minute, Andreu scored from the penalty spot after a foul committed by Strakosha, with Martínez finalizing the score at 4-3 in the 83rd minute.
