Last night, Russia attacked Ukrainian energy facilities in two regions with drones, as a result of which the electricity supply there was interrupted, the operator of the national electricity transmission network “Ukrenergo” reported, quoted by Reuters and BTA.

The company indicates that the electricity supply for most consumers in the northern Chernihiv and Zhytomyr regions has already been restored.

Since the spring, Russian missile attacks and drone attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure have intensified, leading to repeated blackouts in many areas and forcing Kiev to resort to significant imports of electricity from the European Union, Reuters recalls.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Air Force, cited by Ukrinform, said that early this morning air defenses had intercepted 20 Russian kamikaze drones. According to the military, an “Iskander-M” ballistic missile was launched on the territory of Ukraine and 22 “Shaheed” kamikaze drones were sent.

The missile was fired from Russia’s Rostov region toward Ukraine’s Donetsk region, and the kamikaze drones were sent from Cape Chauda on the Crimean peninsula and from the Russian city of Kursk. Twenty of the drones were shot down over Kherson, Sumy, Zhytomyr and Chernihiv regions, adds the Ukrainian intelligence agency.
