Abu Janah orders an assessment of the health situation in Kufra city

Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity and Acting Minister of Health, Ramadan Abu Janah, issued his instructions to the offices, departments and agencies affiliated with the ministry to communicate with the health authorities in the city of Kufra to provide assistance and help and overcome all difficulties.

According to the Ministry of Health, in a statement today, Thursday, this comes as a result of the unfortunate events that the country of Sudan is going through and the resulting migration of large numbers of Sudanese and their arrival to the city of Kufra and its surroundings, and in response by the ministry to the humanitarian and health conditions that the migrants are suffering from.

The ministry’s statement indicated that “the Tropical Medicine Center, the National Center for Disease Control, and the Emergency Medicine and Support Center were directed to head to the city of Kufra to assess the health situation in the city.”

The Ministry of Health explained that “these bodies organized campaigns to vaccinate and immunize many immigrants against contagious and endemic diseases, and organized treatment and screening campaigns for large numbers of immigrants in the region, in cooperation with the city’s health authorities.

The ministry confirmed that it is closely monitoring the health situation in the city of Kufra on an ongoing basis and is coordinating with health and local authorities, international organizations, and the United Nations mission to avoid any emergency in the region.
