It is planned that about 80 city companies and organizations will participate in the procession this year – a total of about 8 thousand. of people will unite in one procession marching through the city center to the Cruise Ship Terminal.
In order to stand out in such a crowd, you need not only to turn heads, but also professional help, which is why some companies in the port city have not been able to defend their orders recently.
There are no instructions
When preparing to participate in the procession, organizations have almost absolute freedom for their creative decisions.
Eglė Šulskė, the manager of Klaipėdos śvatės, VšĮ, which organizes the sea festival, says that there are no instructions or requirements for the participants of the procession, but they are asked to take into account the themes or sub-themes of the event when introducing themselves.
“Organizations themselves ask for the theme and slogan of the celebration and want to prepare specifically, to shine – in this way to honor the celebration and their city, and we communicate the themes and sub-themes of the celebration to the participants of the procession, who respond to them very creatively.”
We ask for it, but we certainly do not indicate or demand it,” E. Šulskė told “Vakāru ekspres”.
A lot of balloons are needed
Providers of services related to events and celebrations in Klaipėda say that participants preparing for the Sea Festival procession often contact them.
Ugnė Raudytė-Daubarienė, the founder and manager of the festive paraphernalia and decorations company “Tūza ir Taraila”, told “Vakaru ekspres” that she receives specific orders for this event every year.
“We have orders – since our main product is balloons, helium balloons, we often have to create something interesting from them.
Larger companies also order non-standard dimensions, huge balloons – they want to create an impression like this. Balloons with printing and logos are also in demand, we are asked to create corporate gifts – advertisements on sticks”, said U. Raudytė-Daubarienė.
Darius Kalinauskas, the manager of the company “Rasoti žinjulai”, which provides decoration services in the port city, also says that the organizations participating in the procession usually order a lot of balloons.
“Sometimes you have to dress up the trucks,” he said.
Paulina Delnevičiūtė, the manager of the festive and carnival paraphernalia and paraphernalia shop “Party line”, which also provides room decoration and gift wrapping services, says that there is a sense of activation before the Sea Festival, and white or blue balloons are usually ordered here.
“I could say that we get specific orders before the holiday – mostly name balloons, mostly white and blue, as well as confetti. There are also various ribbons, companies pack gifts,” said the store manager.
According to her, there are still requests to make flags or tassels used by dancers.
And the advertising services company “Taka reklama” received a large order just this year and is preparing a platform for one large port handling company, which will be used in the procession.
“Right now, we are preparing the platform of one port loading company for the procession. In the past, there were minimal orders related to the holiday – a few t-shirts for companies,” said company director Tadas Kasakauskas.
Preparation – even at the last minute
D. Kalinauskas pointed out that many organizations start preparing shortly before the event.
“As always, preparations are delayed until the last week,” he told the Western Express.
T. Kasakauskas also agrees with this: “There were more requests about a week before the holiday, but we are physically unable to fulfill them.”
U. Raudytė pointed out that large and regularly participating organizations prepare for the event in advance.
“Larger companies prepare in advance, we receive their advance orders – apparently, they constantly participate in the procession, thus creating a festive, good mood in the collectives.
It happens that companies who see this also decide to participate in the procession. Now you don’t need too many things, you need good emotions, and we help spread them”, says U. Raudytė-Daubarienė.
Companies prepare themselves and with helpers
The Western Shipyard (VLG) group of companies says that when preparing for the procession, it always tries to take into account the proposed themes, and this year it will create and show the audience a futuristic ship.
“When generating ideas, we try not only to reflect the general theme of the Sea Festival as best as possible, but also our own activities, together we look for solutions to realize the vision before everything is handed over to the production workers who create miracles with their own hands.
And this jubilee year of the Sea Festival is no exception.
Focusing our forces, we created a futuristic ship. We hope that we will be able to give the city great emotions, and this will be the best evaluation of the hard work of our creative, talented and professional team,” VLG commented to “Vakaru ekspres”.
The shipyard itself creates the main constructions of holiday decorations, but the final image is created with the help of specialists from other fields.
“Of course, we do not do without help from abroad, but we always create the main emphasis – the moving structure – ourselves. After all, even though we don’t make spaceships, the ships we build are really spaceships!” – says VLG.
There should be so many employees of the group in this year’s procession that there have probably been more representatives of one organization during the Sea Festival.
Vaidas Klumbys, head of public relations and communication of the ferry and cargo transportation company DFDS, says that every year preparations for the procession start approximately three months before the event, ideas are created and implemented by employees, but there is also help from outside.
“Usually, three months ago, we start generating ideas, we consult with each other, and then we start implementing them. Most of the time, it is difficult for people alone, and they also have to hire companies from the outside – to help prepare for the procession,” V. Klumbys told “Vakāru ekspres”.
The company “Klaipėdos vanduo” says that this year they will invite you to dive into the mysterious underwater world and get to know the inhabitants of the sea and the unknown depths – this idea was also helped by their partners.
“Although it is only the third year that we are participating in the great procession of the Sea Festival, we want not only to contribute to the creation of the festival in the city, but also to share a message inviting us to pay attention to our own behavior and the preservation of nature.
In this year’s procession, we will provide a colorful spectacle to the participants of the celebration, but at the same time we will invite them to be more aware, more responsible and not to pollute nature – the fate of both the sea and its inhabitants depends only on our habits and behavior”, says Benitas Jonikas, CEO of Klaipėda Water.
What to expect this year?
The Great Sea Festival procession will start on Friday at 6 p.m. – it will start on J. Janonis Street and march along Herkaus Mantos, Naujojo Sod, Naujja Uosto and Pilies Streets to the Cruise Ship Terminal. Traffic will be restricted on these streets due to the procession.
According to the data of the Port Authority, which is sponsoring the procession, more than 80 collectives, companies, and organizations should participate in this year’s event, some of which will march under one flag. It is planned that a total of 6-7 thousand people will participate in it. people, about half of them working in the port or related to its activities.
Together with them, four orchestras, three music groups will march, there will be pop stars, several dozen moving musical platforms, the event will be broadcast live by radio station “M-1”, whose platform will also move in the procession.
Port machinery will roll through the streets, transport will be decorated with decorations and difficult to recognize, according to the organizers, spectators will also see ships and trains moving.
E. Šulskė, head of “Klaipėdos šventiči”, says that the procession is one of the most important highlights of the Sea Festival, so neither time nor finances are spared for it.
“During many Sea Festival events, we see that the procession is gaining more and more importance and weight not only for the companies participating in it, but also for the city community and guests, who are very much looking forward to this event.
This is one of the most important events of the opening of the Sea Festival: partners, the maritime community, captains, representatives of the city authorities always participate in the procession, it is broadcast live, and the viewership is growing.
We invest a lot of our time, finances, and creative costs in this event,” said E. Šulskė.
