In a key match for their future in the Libertadores, Liga de Quito welcomed Junior de Barranquilla to the Rodrigo Paz stadium.
The Colombian team surprised and with a goal from José Enamorado (37′) beat Liga de Quito 1 x 0 in a duel corresponding to the 5th date of group D.
Liga paid dearly for its ineffectiveness in front of goal, wasting at least five clear scoring opportunities. Junior’s goalkeeper (Santiago Mele) was one of the stars of the match with several important saves throughout the game.
Álex Arce and Michael Estrada were not in their prime, while Haitian Ricardo Adé was missing in the back line, having been withdrawn at the last minute due to a physical problem.
After five rounds, Liga de Quito is in last place in Group D with 4 points, and if there is a winner in the other match (Universitario vs Botafogo) it will no longer have a chance of qualifying for the round of 16 of the Libertadores.
IN LOVE WITH GOALS!
Junior, who was not having a good time against Liga de Quito, put together a great play and after several rebounds José Enamorado scored the 0-1.▶️ Don’t miss the 🏆 CONMEBOL #Libertadores in #StarPlusLA. pic.twitter.com/dYqfiv1jpp
