Ranipettai: Ranipettai Governor T. Bhaskara Pandian has advised farmers to reduce their excessive use of synthetic fertilizers and be prepared to use natural fertilizers.

A consultative meeting for farmers was held on Thursday at the office of the District Assistant Director (Agriculture) in Walajapet on behalf of the Agricultural Technology Management Agency.

District Administrator T. Bhaskara Pandian attended the exhibition set up by the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Agri-Commerce. The regime then said:

All farmers should reduce the excessive use of synthetic fertilizers and be prepared to use natural fertilizers. Many of us are losing our health due to excessive use of synthetic fertilizers.

Therefore synthetic fertilizers should be used only if necessary. In today’s environment, everyone over the age of 18 needs 58 grams of protein a day for body growth. But in our country we are importing more protein food items from neighboring countries due to shortage. Because we do not produce much of the protein diet.

The economy of our country is also affected due to imports. All farmers need to know that. We can also produce protein foods as intercrops in gardens. We all need to eat less carbohydrates and more protein in our diet. But we are living with the wrong diet due to modern eating habits.

Farm schools are run by a farmer who is a pioneer in adopting techniques at the village level to explain the recipes to the farmers in the area. Farmers are being taken on a tour of Kandana.

The meeting was attended by Associate Director of the Department of Agriculture Velayutham, Deputy Directors Viswanathan, Albert Robinson, Seeniraj, Latha Mahesh, Union Committee Chairmen Bhuvaneswari Sathyanathan, Anita Kuppusamy, Assistant Professors of Virinjipuram Agricultural Science Center Jayaram Soundari, K. Sasikuma, and Parama.
