US Vice President Kamala Harris, who has collected enough delegates to become the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, thanked her fellow party members for their support, Day.Az reports with reference to Interfax.
“I am proud to have secured the broad support needed to become our party’s nominee (…). I look forward to formally accepting the nomination soon,” Harris said in a statement, as quoted by ABC News.
The vice president expressed gratitude for the support she has received from President Joe Biden and those members of the Democratic Party who have already backed her candidacy.
“Over the next few months, I will be traveling the country talking to Americans about everything that is at stake. I am committed to uniting our party, our nation, and defeating Donald Trump in November,” she concluded.
Earlier, it was reported that Harris had secured the support of enough delegates to become the Democratic nominee for US president.
