Speaking at a joint conference with the President of the Libyan High Council of State, Muhammad Meftah Takala, at the end of their talks, he stressed that Morocco, based on its constant positions on the situation in Libya, as defined by HM King Mohammed VI, still considered that Libya can move towards a political process leading to elections, in view of the current context on the international and regional levels.

“There is an opportunity today that the institutions and the protagonists in Libya must seize to find a solution,” he said, before adding that the solution to the crisis in Libya is in the hands of the Libyans.

Mr. Bourita noted, in this regard, that in view of the balanced relations that the Kingdom maintains with all parties from the point of view of credibility, the role of Morocco consists of listening and promoting inter-Libyan dialogue and this is also its constant position during the talks in Skhirat, Bouznika and Tangier.

And to point out that Morocco, in all its support initiatives, always keeps in mind that ”the success of the political process depends largely on its conduct under the aegis of the United Nations, and this, in order to guarantee respect for international legality”.

Mr. Bourita also stressed that all the initiatives carried out by Morocco in its support of the Libyans stem from its conviction that the future of the region is linked to the stability of Libya and its return as an actor acting in its Maghreb, Arab and African environment, noting that Libya is “a point of support in the future of the North African region and the Arab Maghreb.”
