The President of the Libyan High Council of State highly welcomes the position of Morocco, under the leadership of HM the King, regarding the Libyan crisis

Rabat – The President of the Libyan High Council of State, Muhammad Meftah Takala, highly praised the position of the Kingdom of Morocco, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, regarding the Libyan crisis.

The multiple rounds of inter-Libyan dialogue held in the Kingdom “laid the foundations of certain institutions and put an end to the bloody conflict between the Libyan brothers,” said Mr. Takala during a joint press conference with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, following their talks Thursday in Rabat.

Mr. Takala, who is on a working visit to Morocco, stressed on this occasion that the Libyan High Council of State is confident in “the ability of the Kingdom of Morocco to advance the political process in Libya.”

The balanced position of the Kingdom towards the various political partners in Libya “completely reassures us about the possibility of achieving positive results during the negotiations taking place on Moroccan soil,” he said.

The Skhirat agreement is now considered a constitutional document, added Mr. Takala, noting that the two rounds of talks held in Bouznika contributed to the building of the country’s sovereign institutions.

He noted in this regard that the joint commission (6+6), composed of the Libyan House of Representatives and the Libyan High Council of State, constitutes tangible proof of the consensus reached between the Libyan partners to arrive at electoral laws accepted by all.
