The other chairman, Delyan Peevski, demanded that the chief prosecutor Borislav Sarafov investigate the chairman of the DPS, Jevdet Chakarov.

Earlier on Friday, Chakarov and other MPs who supported Dogan complained of pressure. Chakarov himself said that he learned about a meeting between the Acting Minister of Finance Lyudmila Petkova, the Anti-Corruption Commission and the National Narcotics Agency. It was also attended by a “third person”. After the meeting, tax audits of 25 people began, some of them – the deputies of the DPS, who are now independent. That’s why they want an explanation from Petkova, the commission and the NRA.

Peevski insists in his report to Sarafov that the claims of “massive checks” and meetings be verified. It expresses “concern and the need to establish the facts and circumstances related to the possible admission by the relevant bodies of unregulated interactions and contacts with individual politicians, as well as the creation of prerequisites for the use of the institutions to resolve intra-party personal ambitions”.

We do not serve foreign interests, we are a politically neutral body, responded the NRA. Chakarov’s statement that they “act on orders” is a gross interference in the work of the agency and an attempt to damage its prestige, they write from there. And they add: “The NRA strongly opposes, reaffirming its categorical refusal to participate in scandals, settlement of political accounts and attempts to interfere in its activities both so far and in the future.”

We only asked questions for the NRA to answer, to prove that it is an “independent and politically neutral body”, Chakarov’s people replied.
