The National Electoral Institute (INE) formally presented the National Civic Education Strategy for the period 2024-2026, with the aim of informing, raising awareness and engaging various social, institutional and citizen actors in the promotion and strengthening of citizen participation, the development of a democratic civic culture, as well as the full exercise of the political-electoral rights in Mexico.
The objective of the strategy, led by the Executive Directorate of Electoral Training and Civic Education (DECEyEC), is to contribute to the increase of knowledge, development of skills and abilities through the implementation of training processes and the integration of participation to consolidate comprehensive citizenship.
Its specific objectives include implementing civic education training processes to increase knowledge and develop skills and attitudes to build comprehensive citizenship.
The counselor and president of the Training and Electoral Organization Commission, Martín Faz Mora, He said that the development and consolidation of civic culture and education is fundamental “because we conceive it not only as a tool, but as an articulating axis of a full, representative, participatory, fairer, more inclusive and supportive democracy.”
