Godda: In a major action, the police in Godda district of Jharkhand has caught a gang smuggling liquor and recovered a huge amount of illegal English liquor from them. This incident happened on Thursday night, when the police raided Kharihani village of Pathargama police station area on the basis of secret information. 2204 boxes of illegal English liquor were found in a warehouse here, which was to be sold in Bihar. The police have arrested five people in this case, including warehouse owner Upendra Bhagat, Devendra Mahato, Shyam Mahato, Haryana resident Akil Hussain and Moradabad resident of Uttar Pradesh, Mohammad Asif.
Five smugglers arrested
The police had been receiving reports of alcohol smuggling in this area for a long time. Godda SP Nathu Singh Meena had been receiving such information for the past several months. After this, he formed a team under the leadership of SDPO JPN Chaudhary and this major operation was carried out on Thursday night. During a raid at Upendra Bhagat’s warehouse in Kharihani village, the police found an Eicher truck with Rajasthan number, which was filled with a large quantity of alcohol. It was being loaded into another truck with Jharkhand number, when the police raided.

Police said that the five arrested people were loading liquor in the truck. 2204 boxes of liquor were already loaded in the truck with Jharkhand number. Police said that a basement inside the warehouse is also to be searched, where more liquor is suspected to be present. The five arrested people are being interrogated and the police hope that they will be able to get more information about this interstate liquor smuggling gang.
