Martin Ødegaard came on in the second half of last night’s friendly in Los Angeles, USA. At that point, the London team was leading 1-0 after a goal from Fábio Vieira.

The Portuguese hammered the ball into the net after 18 minutes of play at Dignity Health Sports Park, home of LA Galaxy.

Dominik Solanke’s shot hitting the crossbar 12 minutes later was the closest Bournemouth came to equalizing in the first half. Bournemouth had the upper hand in the second half, and it was not undeserved when Antoine Semenyo scored to make it 1-1 via an Arsenal defender over a stranded Karl Hein in goal for Arsenal.

After the goal, Arsenal pressed for another, but no further goals were scored. It was agreed that the match would go to a penalty shootout regardless of the result at full time.

In the shootout, Arsenal came out victorious. Martin Ødegaard took the first penalty for Arsenal and scored.

Arsenal fielded a young squad from the start, while Bournemouth presented a team with several first-team players. Ødegaard showed that he has not lost his form over the summer. The player from Drammen delivered several finesse plays and was close to making it 2-0 after a free kick from long range.

Arsenal will face Manchester United in their next friendly match – in the night from Saturday to Sunday Norwegian time. Bournemouth will meet Spanish side Rayo Vallecano, also that night.
