/ Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan warned of an “explosion coming” that would be “worse” if a Palestinian state is not established, while clarifying the Kingdom’s position on normalizing relations with Israel.
Prince Faisal bin Farhan said, on the sidelines of a session of the Munich Security Conference, that “the majority of Palestinians have expressed their commitment to the two-state solution,” and that “using the minority to not move forward will keep us in the same cycle of violence.”
He added: “What I fear is that the next explosion will be worse” than what happened on October 7, stressing that the solution lies in self-determination for the Palestinians.
The Saudi foreign minister said that Israel’s actions in Gaza would “stir up emotions” and give “an outlet for extremists”, in addition to creating “a national security problem in the region”, considering that “this path will not increase Israel’s security, but will increase the risks”.
He continued: “We need hope for our region, we need hope for the Palestinians, and we need hope for the Israelis.”
He said that Arab countries are committed to establishing an integration partnership with Israel, but this requires them to make “difficult decisions,” he said.
Prince Faisal bin Farhan pointed out that there are no relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel, and that the Kingdom is not holding direct talks with it, saying that normalizing relations with it depends on implementing the Arab Peace Treaty and establishing a Palestinian state.
