Through his social media, the artist dedicated some heartfelt words urging all his friends, colleagues, and companions in the country to “go out and vote.”

“I am on the other side of the world, I sought all ways to exercise my vote but with the number of obstacles, they didn’t let me. I did everything I could to show the world the feelings of many of us,” wrote.

Danny recalled that “just as his international colleagues have the chance to sing and fill venues in their country, my biggest dream is to be able to do it in mine.”

“I haven’t done it because singing Me Rehúso in a Venezuela with almost 8 million outside, personally… I feel that it’s a disrespect to the universe,” he continued.

In that sense, the Venezuelan composer assured that “this is already something that goes beyond and you know it, it’s about light against darkness.”

“What feels good is good, and what feels bad is bad, it’s that simple,” he concluded.

As the Venezuelan presidential elections approached on July 28, 2023, renowned artist Danny Ocean took to social media to inspire and mobilize his fellow countrymen. His heartfelt message urged them to embrace their democratic duty and head to the polls, despite his own struggles with voting abroad.

From his distant location, Ocean expressed deep frustration over the obstacles he faced in trying to cast his vote, showing the emotional connection he maintains with his homeland. He articulated a longing to perform in Venezuela, highlighting a gap between the opportunities available to international artists and his aspirations to bring music back to his home country.

His words reflect a broader trend among artists who leverage their platforms to advocate for social change and civic responsibility. In recent years, there has been a noticeable surge in musicians who take stances on political matters, using their influence to rally support for democratic processes.

Through this engagement, artists like Ocean are cultivating a stronger sense of community both within and outside Venezuela. By pushing for active participation in elections, they not only raise awareness of the issues faced by their compatriots but also inspire the younger generations to recognize the importance of their voices in shaping the future.

As voters increasingly turn to social media for information, artists who embrace this trend may likely continue to play pivotal roles in guiding political discourse. Their ability to create emotional connections through music and outreach could invite more individuals to partake in the democratic process, transforming how civic engagement is perceived in the context of art and culture.
