These Doctoriales are organized, on the sidelines of the 15th edition of the International Agricultural Show in Morocco (SIAM), by the IAV Hassan II, in partnership with the member establishments of the Consortium, namely, the National Institute of Agronomic Research, the National School of Agriculture of Meknes and the National Forestry School of Engineers.
The main objective of this scientific event is to highlight the crucial role of scientific research, innovation and technology transfer for the future and sustainability of Moroccan agriculture within the framework of the new agricultural strategy “Generation Green”.
On this occasion, the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Mohamed Sadiki, indicated that today, the higher education and research system is very integrated and that the reflection carried out by the Consortium to decline the “Green Generation” is a very good work, stressing that there is still work to be done for better synergy and efficiency.
Mr. Sadiki also called for finding mechanisms so that this research can have the necessary incentives and recognition and to make doctoral training an essential lever for pushing research upwards.
For his part, the research professor and deputy director responsible for scientific research and doctoral training at IAV Hassan II, Mohamed Cheikhaoui, noted that the choice of the theme challenges all stakeholders since it highlights the key role of scientific research, innovation and technology transfer in the development of Moroccan agriculture of tomorrow.
And to continue that these Doctoriales 2023 are intended to be a space for exchanges between scientists, decision-makers and development partners on a problem of major interest in Morocco, in particular to better adapt to climate change.
The research work of doctoral students from the Center for Doctoral Studies (CEDoc) of IAV Hassan II will be presented during this event, thus offering an opportunity to discover the latest advances in this field.
This edition of the Doctoriales will also promote exchanges between the different players in the agricultural world such as professionals, researchers, academics and representatives of the different departments of the public sector.
The active participation of doctoral students in this event demonstrates their commitment and determination to contribute to the development of Moroccan agriculture by putting into practice the knowledge and skills acquired during their higher education. In addition, this event provides a valuable opportunity for doctoral students to establish relationships with scientists and socio-economic actors and to make themselves known to potential employers.
During these Doctoriales, more than thirty oral communications from established researchers and doctoral students, as well as around forty posters, will be presented. To encourage young researchers, prizes will be awarded to the two best oral communications per research field and to the three best posters during the closing ceremony.
The main topics covered include digitalization, water resources management, smart irrigation, precision agriculture, water and soil conservation, water accounting, renewable energy, animal health, fisheries, institutional innovation in agriculture, climate change and many others.
The CEDoc of the IAV Hassan II, which enjoys the recognition of all the member institutions of the consortium, has the mission of welcoming and scientifically supervising quality doctoral students. The CEDoc, recently re-accredited, offers five doctoral training courses and is backed by 20 research units. Since 2009, this center has trained more than 145 doctors, including about twenty in joint supervision, and has produced more than 450 scientific articles published in indexed journals.
