Presidents Noboa and Boluarte signed documents on cooperation in security and defense, combating transnational crime, information exchange, and strengthening investments and trade, called the “Lima 2024 Action Plan.”
The host president spoke of the historic relationship between both peoples and highlighted the latest developments in her administration. “A concrete example of the commitments to cooperation between our countries was the determined support we gave to Ecuador after the outbreak of the security crisis at the beginning of that year, through which we recognized this common challenge that affects both countries. Therefore, guided by the principles of good neighborliness and mutual support in our bilateral relationship, we have managed to define commitments with collaborative approaches to confront transnational organized crime.”
Noboa highlighted the support of the international community in the fight against transnational organized crime. “I would like to highlight the importance of the determined support, especially that of the Republic of Peru, both bilaterally and within the framework of the Andean Community of Nations,” said the president, while listing the actions that his government has managed to achieve as a milestone in the fight against “the ruthless battle” against criminal groups in the region.
The foreign ministers also exchanged a plan of action within the framework of the Andean Community, as well as the Ministers of Security on joint actions to neutralize clandestine crossings, fight illegal mining, joint operations on the border with the transfer of military and police intelligence information between both countries, in addition to the measures to be taken for the repatriation of convicted persons in each country.
The promotion of trade, tourism and investments between nations was part of the discussions of both missions, in addition to the reinforcement of infrastructure capacities and the flow of tourism and energy integration, electrical interconnection and the processing of Ecuadorian hydrocarbons in Peru. Finally, the exchange of good practices and modern technologies in productive activities.
