The description of the damage to the houses in Elin Pelin municipality, where a warehouse for fireworks and pyrotechnics was blown up this week, began yesterday. So far, about 30 houses with material damage have been identified, the mayor of the municipality Ivaylo Simeonov told BTA.
He indicated that the main damages that were found were broken windows and cracked walls. Properties at about a hundred more addresses will be assessed. “We are obliged to check everyone, but there are also attempts at fraud. Colleagues pass expertly and we will not allow fraud,” Simeonov pointed out.
The tours are carried out by employees of the Municipality of Elin Pelin. The inventories will be handed over to the Commission on Disasters and Accidents.
Earlier, the mayor announced that the gas supply has already been restored.
Simeonov said that he had spoken with the owners of the warehouses where the fire broke out on the day of the incident, but they had no explanation as to what had happened. It will become clear after the fire brigade and the sappers arrive on the spot, he specified.
The Municipality announced that, if desired, residents of Elin Pelin Municipality will have the opportunity to meet with a psychologist. There will be several specialists, and the meetings will be at the Community Support Center this Monday.
To date, the air quality indicators in the village of Elin Pelin Station do not exceed the regulated norms and do not threaten the life and health of people and animals in the region, the press center of the Ministry of Environment and Water (MoEW) announced.
