Darbhanga: The Union Health Ministry has declared the land near Shobhan Bypass in Darbhanga as suitable for the construction of AIIMS. A letter has been sent in this regard to Additional Chief Secretary of Bihar’s Health Department Pratyaya Amrit. It has been said that the land near Shobhan Bypass, which was inspected by the technical team of the Union Health Department on March 18-19 last year, is suitable for the construction of AIIMS. Now it is expected that after getting approval for the construction of AIIMS on the proposed Shobhan Bypass land, the state government will soon transfer the entire land to the Center for free. Necessary steps will also be taken to arrange for electricity and water supply and to provide four-lane connectivity to it.
There was a lot of politics over the land of Darbhanga AIIMS
There was a lot of politics on the land of this Shobhan bypass before the Lok Sabha elections. During this time, after inspecting the land of Shobhan bypass and the land of DMCH campus several times, the central team declared it unsuitable for the construction of AIIMS. After which the Chief Minister of the then Mahagathbandhan government, Nitish Kumar, hastily announced the construction of a new 2500-bed hospital in Darbhanga.
Darbhanga AIIMS will be built in Shobhan itself, construction will start soon
JDU Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Jha wrote on Twitter that ‘We are happy to share that the technical team of the Central Government, which came to Darbhanga on 18-19 March 2024 to survey the land proposed by the state government near Shobhan-Ekmi bypass for the construction of AIIMS in Darbhanga, has described the said land as suitable for the construction of AIIMS in its report. After this, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has approved the construction of AIIMS on the proposed land.
For this approval, I express my heartfelt gratitude to the respected Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi, Union Health Minister Mr JP Nadda and Chief Minister Mr Nitish Kumar on my behalf and on behalf of all the people of Mithila. We are confident that the construction of AIIMS in Darbhanga will now begin soon.
After getting approval for construction of AIIMS on the proposed land, the state government will soon transfer the entire land (more than 150 acres) to the Centre free of cost. Along with this, it will also take necessary steps to arrange for electricity and water supply at the said site from its own resources and to provide four-lane connectivity to it.
We believe that if AIIMS is constructed near Shobhan situated on the city border, then Darbhanga city will get a new expansion and new areas will develop rapidly. This will create employment opportunities in new areas.
Along with this, the state government is also redeveloping Darbhanga Medical College Hospital (DMCH). A plan of Rs 2742.04 crore is underway to build a new 2500-bed hospital there. After the construction of both the super specialty hospitals, Darbhanga will become a major center not only for North Bihar but also for Nepal.
