If you think Taylor Swift is only friends with Ice Spice for the sake of popularity, you need to rethink that.
Ice Spice graces the cover of the latest issue of Rolling Stone.
In the accompanying interview, the rapper claps back at those who believe the world’s biggest pop star is only friends with Isis Naija Gaston for her own gain.
When the duo announced their first collaboration last year, there were quite a few who gave Taylor Swift a bombastic sideways glance.
This happened when the superstar teamed up with Ice Spice on “Karma (Remix).”
A good number of people thought the timing of this was a bit too suspicious.
This was during the period when Taylor was dating 1975 frontman Matty Healy. At that time, he had recently issued a sort of apology for some inappropriate comments he had made about Ice.
For example, he referred to the Bronx girl as sounding like “an Inuit-Spice Girl” and “a chubby Chinese woman,” in addition to calling her “dumb.”
“The fact that Taylor Swift fails to address the racist comments Matty Healy made about Ice Spice only to find a way to profit from her with their new collab is a clear example of white woman feminism. It’s convenient, manipulative, and continues to protect white men,” wrote one of many who reacted on X.
Others labeled it a new low for Taylor Swift, dubbing the artist’s new era as “big big yikes.”

But according to the rapper, this is just nonsense.
– Why wouldn’t she want to be friends with me, asks Ice Spice.
She goes on to explain that Tay is vibing with her (in a positive way) and that their personalities fit well together.
Ice even has her friend put in a few good words for her in the Rolling Stone interview.
– I love when I meet a new artist who is actually interested in not just the music, but the music industry and how it works, Taylor says about Ice to the magazine.
She further explains that she finds it exciting to see how the 24-year-old leans into the financial and strategic aspects of her career.
And speaking of strategic.
The rapper has been under a bit of scrutiny lately due to a (somewhat failed?) PR stunt.
At least several assume that the romance rumors between Ice Spice and Central Cee, who collaborated on the new single “Did It First” – were merely an attempt to create hype around the song. Including rumors of infidelity that Central’s ex-girlfriend recently detailed in several videos on TikTok.
Even though the speculation became a hot topic on the internet, it didn’t help the song much.
The collaboration debuted at number 62 on the Billboard Hot 100 – just above Katy Perry’s flop “Woman’s World” 🙂
Ice has since denied that anything romantic is happening between her and Central Cee.
